Cara loves all things sparkly, as do I. She even glittered up her own shoes and I was such a fan! I had been looking forward to Caleb and Cara's wedding day for so long. When I initially met with Cara at Panera, I knew it would be something special. Every detail of their wedding day had meaning which made for an intimate gathering completely focused on enjoying the day with friends and family. These two had a morning ceremony with a brunch reception. It was totally unique and appropriate for the tone of the day. Besides, who doesn't love some good breakfast food?! I was lucky enough to have my main lady - Justina of Justina Roberts Photography second shoot with me again. She rocked it out and was down for anything! Guys. It rained on Caleb and Cara's wedding day. Down-poured. And these two handled it like champs - in fact, everyone did! Read on to see how we accommodated the rain for picture time. ;) When you have a brunch reception, obviously you have to have a doughnut cake! YUM. After cooling off on the ice, it was time for an outfit change and a relaxing BBQ at Caleb's family home. And GUESS WHAT. The rain let up with perfect timing so everyone could enjoy socializing outside! Remember the rain?! Well, most wedding days I'd just rock it out with some umbrellas and shoot through the rain. But Cara had an awesome idea. We headed over to the local ice rink where Caleb and Cara had their first date. Basically, it was all sorts of perfection! Many of the guests brought tents and camped out! The newly weds even invited me to stay for a fun night of camping - how cool is that?! Thank you for having me Caleb and Cara! Cara: The first time I said "my husband" out loud. It felt great! Caleb: Seeing Cara walk down the aisle! Any advice for future bride/grooms? Leading up to your wedding, people will ask you about your plans All The Time. I started thinking, "hey, I'm more than just a bride people!" It's ok to say that you don't want to talk about it or say "you'll just have to wait to see." Don't be afraid to skip things that you don't care for. Instead of favors, we made a donation to a nonprofit organization to support cancer patients. Pretty certain no one missed them. When friends ask to help, let them. Give them little jobs like welcome bags for the hotel. And don't let Pinterest projects take over your life. It's great to gather ideas but at a certain point you have to boycott Pinterest. It's peer pressure for adult women! Sorry, that was a lot of advice-mostly for brides. Most hilarious moment from your day? The way all of my friends and family handled all the rain. It was the uninvited guest that kept trying to steal the show but everyone enjoyed themselves anyway. Wet clothes and frizzy hair were very stylish that day. And watching all of our nieces and nephews dance and play games. Most weddings don't include kids but we wanted them there and they were the life of the party! What is the best thing you did in preparation for your wedding? We held our rehearsal dinner on Thursday evening since our wedding was so early in the morning on Saturday. Gave us an extra day to get details in place. I even went for a little canoe ride the day before. Really anything that gets you away from your cell phone for a little bit. We enjoyed the company of out of town guests as much as possible. I even did a little yoga the morning of the wedding. Put me in a good place. Where did you go on your honeymoon? The Red Maple Inn in Burton, Ohio for eight hours! It was great! Very quaint and cozy. We took long showers, curled up in fluffy white robes and passed out! My husband started a new job in January so he won't have vacation time until next year. It was nice to be able to spend the days after with our out of town guests and not have to jump on a plane immediately after. Hoping to go to Italy next year!
